Chislehurst, Kent

This garden belonged to a retired couple who had moved into a new build house. They wanted to transform their boring garden into a space for them to relax and enjoy.

We stripped out the old lawn and designed a garden that had a new patio by the house, linked by a pathway and a new seating area away from the house. A newly shaped lawn helped the garden feel bigger and we introduced plenty of new planting that would give year-round-interest.

Three multi-stem Amelanchier trees were positioned around the circular seating area to provide dappled shade and a cooler place to sit and enjoy the planting. Until the planting became established, our clients grew vegetables in between the perennial planting for the first year.

The couple sourced a lovely sculpture which we incorporated into the planting. An uplighter was added to show it off nicely at night.

A large 'Urbis' pot was placed on the patio, to enable us to plant an Acer tree.
