Our brief from the client was to keep the existing lawn, to re-shape it and introduce plenty of new lush planting. We were asked to pay particular attention to the proximity of the neighbouring houses and choose planting to help disguise them.
We were able to shape the lawn into two interlocking circles using 'Everedge' metal edging. We arranged for a tree surgeon to shape and lift the canopy of two existing Photinias, which acted as a screen from the neighbouring houses. This allowed us to plant underneath and include lots of vibrant colours, structure, textures and leaf sizes to provide a tropical feel to this garden.
The transformation was immediate, the planting will only get better over time. Five new bamboos we planted will not only provide an evergreen screen, but also create movement in the garden, along with the selection of grasses. Large Fatsia japonicas and Dicksonia antarctica provided great texture and height.
Our client was very happy and said the garden would now be a lovely space for her to relax and enjoy.
